Default Third gear power C5z06

Is it me or does third gear really feel strong?

I can be running at about 4k rpm in third and floor it and man does the car pull hard.

For some reason it just feels like third gear is a beast. I wonder if its just a sweet spot for the motor. Anybody else feel the same about third gear?

Get it above 4k in most any gear and it pulls like a freight train. So yes, 3rd gear.....very fast.

Isn't it great to have a C5 Z06, drop a cam in and it even gets better.

Yes it is. I cant imagine anything any faster 70 to 100. Im sure alot of cars are but damn ny c5z pulls hard. I think a cam and headers are next. I will have to take baby steps though to learn the new power.

I personally think 2nd gear pulls harder but yes 3rd gear pulls hard too.

And I thought my bolt-on Z pulled hard to until I drove a C6 ZR1. After that my Z felt slow.

I went from a 2000 slp ss to a 2007 gt500 and the Z feels alot faster than all of them . Ive been thinking about getting the 3.73 gears installed. But where do you get them?

I think all the gears pull hard but 3rd is when I get the feeling that the car is really starting to move... as stated above, with a turbo or blower it's super fun

Yeah I agree third is when it really gets moving. I just cant imagine anything faster on the streets. I have heard guys say that 600 horespower is unusable on the streets. I know what they mean now. I mean you wouldnt even have time to think when you floored it. 405 is enough for me but a ECS kit sure would be nice.

that's a flat out lie, 600 is easily manageable... the guys saying that it isn't are either over exaggerating or using street tires that aren't designed for traction to begin with

800 is manageable in these cars. The aerodynamics is amazing. Good tires help too...although I run track tires 12 months a year

I have the Yokohama advan AD08 tires 19" and they are perfect for a stock z I think. Well if its not cold out. I couldnt image 800 hp bet it took you awhile to get comfortable with that kind of power

1st and 2nd would pull even harder than 3rd if you could get traction.
