Need help with two battery questions.
I got a 03 automatic c5. When taking out the battery, I dropped the battery holder with the screw down in between the battery tray and the fuse relay box! How do I get this out from under the fuse box?
Question two, what is the best battery to get? It has an Optima one now. Is this a gel type battery?
Thanks to all for your responses.
Rob.

I have the Optima and it is gel. Some like it and some don't.
If you do your own work then you should have a magnet on a stick. It is a real go to tool for automotive work.
There is an inspection cover behind the frond wheel where you can gain more access or you can remove the battery shroud.

Take off the lower fender liner on the rear of the passenger side and you have access to the entire area. Just involves taking out some screws (note that one of the screws goes in to the side of the frame rail behind the wheel well).
As far as a battery goes, I use a Diehard Platinum in my car but those are no longer made. The Diehard Gold is also a good battery.

You definitely want an AGM battery.
You'll get a million responses on here about the best battery. I'd say go with either a Sears Diehard Gold AGM (about $170 or so) or if you really want to go all out for the absolute best, get an Odyssey for $250 or so.
Seems like a lot of Corvette owners here have had a lot of issues with the Optima batteries.

I like the Odyssey personally ($$$)...

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I loosened the inner fender with two screws and pulled it away from the car and low and behold it was there! I had to fit my small hands in to get it, but it only took a couple minutes.
It's great to be able to posts question like this and have people like yourselves willing to give advise to total strangers like myself. It saved me a lot of grief.
Again, thanks a lot!
