ported 90/90

Please PM me the sponsor name also, we put our trust in vendors to be providing a "premium" product since we're often paying "premium" prices......seeing stuff like this makes me sick since I know ported FAST90/90's are going for well over $1200 and a FAST92 can be had for $840. The more I see things like this, the more I want to do it myself...Bill Curlee had great results porting his himself!

I feel your pain, for my C6 I had the intake & TB ported. When I looked at the two pieces.........not a lot of pride in workmanship. Did not have time to clean up myself before installing, very disappointing.
My comparison is a set of 205's & a Fast 90/90 combo ported Tony himself....flawless, these are for my C5.
Curious if you would be willing to share some info about your motor, I'm getting ready to install my pieces? I think we will have similar cams.

Porting Manifolds has become the new money maker, anyone with a dremel tool can do it and charge for it, but only those with a flow bench and proper RnD time can do it correctly.
This is why we do not port manifolds, i have not spent the time and research needed to say i can do as good of a job as say, Tony Mamo, So when our customer's want one ported, we send it to the best in the biz

I have one from Tony also, the ports were identical and looked almost to be done by a CNC machine. I had him do some "massaging" on my AFR 205's as well

I saw what Tony M does on his and there is a differance. Mine was not done by tony's or his shop.
I just wanted to show an example of what it looks like inside the ported FAST.
Had I seen Tony's pictures before I mounted the manifold, I would have taken out alot more. And trust me, I took out alot. When I got it, It did look like a dremel went in a couple of three times to scare it, and sent out.
Im not bashing a sponsor, nor should I say who did the work, but ask alot of questions and see if they will send you pictures of how they port, and make sure it looks something like that when you get it.
Where the pencil points was a note to myself where I took out alot of flashing, but I sanded as far in as I could with my hands and a ruler covered with sand paper lol
Its been on the car for about a year, but just stubled across the pictures while posting pictures of my catch can and remembered that someone asked aboutporting pictures a while ago

My understanding is that work is also done inside the manifold so it must be taken apart. Did you look beyond the port matching....I don't think your ports would match very well to the AFR's?

Actually, I called the vender and asked if I could take apart the manifold and sand out additional flashing. I dont recall the quote, but the answer was no because of something like the bolts are glued in or that layers are glued in. I didnt want to F- up what I had or break something that just cost me a grand. Id beat what you see on my port job is all I got.
I did notice a differnce with the 90/90, but after more reseach ( and this is what the forum is about) I learned more could have been done to the manifold to make it more effective

what really is the point of this thread?
you pointed out less than quality work from a fourm vendor we trust with our money, then you wont inform anyone?
This thread is absolutely pointless.

It's not a vender bashing thread and no I will not answer the PMs about which vendor. It's a do your homework thread and ask questions about what you get for your money and if you can save money and do the work yourself.

Are you serious? Why not respond to the PM with the knowledge you've already gained and save everyone else the trouble?

that type of business practice is unacceptable and shouldn't be tolorated by anyone. if vendors know they can do that kind of stuff, and people like you just sit there and take it, what the hell is going to stop them from doing it again!
if a vendor screwed you out of money for a port job your only recourse is to let the forum know who it was so it doesn't happen again. otherwise, like already stated, this thread is pointless.

I'm ASSuming that your choice of the word "vengeance" wasn't by accident. If so, I just want to say the Vengeance Ported Fast 90 that I have sitting upstairs has significant more port work done to it then in the OP's pictures.

Im no Tony M but I completely disassembled my FAST 90 and did what I thought would enhance air flow. I had to help it flow better than out of the box. Here are some picts:
I kept the ports straight and gouge free by using a Dynafile for wall smoothing and then smoothed everything by hand.
Everything worked out very well and I resealed the intake and cheched for leaks, I sealed all the holes with tape and filled it with water. There were not any leaks.
I also ported my own LS2 90MM TB. Really proud of the results! Looks good and no TB Issues.
