Engine advice
#2
Any time I reuse heads, I have a machine shop pressure test them and then mill the surfaces to ensure they're true. Money well spent.
In your case with the bent valves, I'd strongly consider just buying a set of new ones from a sponsor.
Darn shame on the hack job install but it's good you're fixing it right.

Was the engine over rev'd? What harmonic damper is on the engine? As others have already suggested, get the heads reworked. Maybe a good time to do a cam if you want a little more out of the engine along with new valve springs. Make sure you use new head bolts. Sorry to hear that your engine bit the valves, that sucks!

I plan on using new head bolts, but if I put them on a straight edge and they are true with no stretched threads why am I replacing them ? I know the rule of thumb but I hate spending money...I plan on taking the heads in thanks for the advice. Now to find a good Machine shop in Ontario
You missed some of the questions in the earlier post, they are important, unless you don't mind doing this all over again.
