Was the engine over rev'd? What harmonic damper is on the engine? As others have already suggested, get the heads reworked. Maybe a good time to do a cam if you want a little more out of the engine along with new valve springs. Make sure you use new head bolts. Sorry to hear that your engine bit the valves, that sucks!
I plan on using new head bolts, but if I put them on a straight edge and they are true with no stretched threads why am I replacing them ? I know the rule of thumb but I hate spending money...I plan on taking the heads in thanks for the advice. Now to find a good Machine shop in Ontario
The bolts are stretched to yield. This is a onetime thing. Especially on an aluminum engine, the bolts are stretched this way because of the need for them to work kind of like springs. They allow the same clamp load between the head and block through the full operating temperature range. Once the bolt is used, if taken out, it will never reach the proper claim load again, hence the need to replace.
You missed some of the questions in the earlier post, they are important, unless you don't mind doing this all over again.
