Default Lsx intake bolt torque spec

Was looking up online and says

1st pass 44 in lbs
2nd pass 89 in lbs

Conversion for in lbs to ft lbs is to divide in. by ft lbs

So say 89 ddivided by 12 = 7.4ft lbs???

Can this be right?

How can a manifold seal with that?

If so I just overtorqued mine REAL good

no in lbs on mine went by feel guessing somewhere in the 15-25 tops?

Luckily I had one of the 3/8" torque wrenchs when building the Vette engine. But before I bought it I would take a 1/4" ratchet like a 3" long pencil looking one and torque it with it just by feel, the smaller tool you use the more easily you can tell torque. But like you I probably overtorqued it a little but never seen any ill effects. The factory spec seems sort of light, but we should never question the all knowing engineers.

Couldnt find my little adapter wanted to do the same as you using the 1/4 in for initial. Guess if it was that overdone I would have cracked it.

Sprayed brakecleen aroudn all the ports when it was running didnt change anything and idles glass smooth so hoping it stays that way.
Guess if it were to leak its easy enough to lift the intake and slide another set under.

Directions what directions?

I think before you would have cracked it you'd pulled the threads out of the heads. If she's running smooth you should be fine, but if it ever starts getting a miss you know where to start.

The gaskets are fairly soft. Based on my installation method for the FAST it appears the torque is intended to make the intake contact the heads and hold a preload. There really isn't any heavy torque required to seal the runners with this type of sealing material, not like the small block manifold.

Good excuse to buy an lb-in wrench.
