I currently have an Optima Red series that is almost 9 years old...kept an auto trickle charger on it all those years...that's why it still works.

I would recommend Die-Hard Platinum 34/78DT dual terminal, model number 50090 (formerly called "P4") or Delco.

Easterns have always been good, but the ugly yellow/green look had me opt for a battery cover tray.

I replaced it with an Autozone Duralast and it has performed 100% perfect. Couldnt see spending that much money for a battery again! The AC Delco Professional battery is another great battery but its a little more on the pricer side!
The MOST IMPORTANT thing that you have to consider when you purchase a battery is getting one that has the same or hopefully more "RESERVE CAPACITY" than the OEM battery.
Your car constantly draws 20-25 milliamps from the battery when it turned off. If you get a battery with LESS reserve capacity, it will not be able to sit for long periods of time without depleting the battery.
Let us know what you decide. Remember, clean your battery cable ends and properly TORQUE the terminal bolts to 11 ft/lbs for proper battery operation. (97 - 2003 C5 specs)
