Default Pro Torque vs. Yank

Anyone running a Pro Torque converter for their C5? It seems like everyone goes with Yank. Is there a significant difference?

Thanks

I have ran both of these converters. Go with the Yank, it is more efficent and pulls harder on the big end.

Get a Vigilante as i've had all 3. Yanks are hit or miss on quality and performance. The lockup clutchs balloon out and go south prior to getting into your wallet a second time. Ask Mike at yank about the self destructed convertor he bought back of mine. Shhhhhh, your not supposed to know these things!

Currently running a Pro-Torque 2400 series converter and it feels like stock to me. No waiting for RPM's to get high enough before the car will move. If you are drag racing you may want a higher stall. I've heard enough good things about Yank that I'm sure that it would work fine as well. It is not necessary for me to run a higher stall though since I am running 3.90 gears Also the fact that I am on my stock transmission says alot for the setup

I HAD a Protorque 2800. It was really loose and I couldn't get the Vibrations out of it. Vibrated around 2000/2400 RPM's. So I got the Protorque out of my car! Put the stock unit back in and it runs great.
Protorque
PS. If I drag raced, I would definitely find another good high stall TC!

I have been running TCI 3500 Street fighter in mine for more than a year, I will run nothing else, We have been installing them in other Corvettes and the people love them.
And they are about $350 less than the others.
It don't matter what converter you use if you don't have a RPM Transmission from Rodney

Yank and Vig are both good converters, but would recommend Yank over anything else.

So much for my earlier post. Tranny stopped working Saturday Night. While at "The Doctors" for a high performance re-build I think that I will swap out the PT 2400 for something a bit more tailored to the rest of my mods.....a Vigilante 3200. Maybe a hot cam and better flowing heads while at it?????

Let's ask Tim Lynch, Troy Coughlin, Bill Mitchell, Larry Woods, Tom Kempf, and all other outlaw 10.5 cars out there how their Protorque converters work. Seems to me that there aren't many Yanks, or Vigilantes behind 3000 HP engines. I personally have 3 Protorque cars, and I've been selling their converters for over 7 years. We've seen far less problems with any of their stuff compared to ANY other converter company.

I've had customers with Yanks that haven't lasted 2 weeks before spitting the needle bearings out. I've had Vigilantes that were made wrong and wouldn't fit in a transmission. I've had customers with Vigilantes that haven't lasted 2 months. I've been building automatic transmissions for a living for over 23 years. The ONLY converters we sell or use are Protorque.
