Pete

This is a SORE subject and you will get lots of people telling you to do a search.

Snake OIL!!! Forgetaboutit!!!

Your PCM has a flash memory and you need tuning software to perform any worthwhile improvements. There are handheld tuning devices that provide limited PCM enhancements. Like Predator and Superchips.

For full PCM tuning, you need full service software like: EFI Live or HP Tuners. If you do not want to purchase software, have a tuner tune your PCM.

The device that you are considering is nothing more than a resistor that fools the PCM into thinking the intake air temp is cooler than it actually is providing more timing advance.

DON'T DO IT>

PS 8vette7 types faster than me...

thanks for the info. i did a search after the post (probably out of order...haha) so got all the info you just gave. probably have to get a professional tune done if i want to do this right. looked a t some of the hand held/home mechanic user computers you can buy. they seem great if you know what you are doing. way too much to adjust or that can go wrong if i do it my self. also saw a vendor member on here , car tech, they aren't too far from me. checked out their website and they look pretty good may just go down there when i get some extra cash...thanks again for the info

The IAT tricker is still out there. All it does is give a false lower air temp to the computer to add more fuel to the engine for increased power.

Fill out your "location" so others can help locate you a local tuner.

PS.... "chips" are something you eat.
Not something you put in your Corvette.

Sorry Pete...
Everyone is just playing with you.
Take it as a joke (because it is just us being funny with you).

Sounds like Bill got you set up though with a tuner.

Enjoy your ride !

it's all good, i get worse from my family..haha only have my vette for about a year and a half so still learning. i have to say regardless of the ribbing (which i can handle) i have learned a lot here. my brother in law used to have a few vettes and turned me on to the site. the info has been great so if i take a little newbie ribbing along the way my shoulders are strong enough i can handle the weight.

Pete

Before you spend cash on GO FAST STUFF,, run it by the forum. Most of the time you will get no hassle recommendations.

The CHIP,, LOL,, always gets some great post going..

Things that are worthless for performance:

Fancy expensive unique spark plugs
Fancy expensive spark plug wires
Turbinator
Fuel magnets
CHIPS

Your best bet for a great performance improvement is:

Cold air intake
2001+ intake manifold if you have a 97-2000 C5
Headers and mid-pipe
Mufflers (for personal sound preference)
Tune after you install your mods

Bill
