Default Rear outer tie rod, any special tool needed?

.On my Y2K A4 vert, for Rear outer tie rod replacement, is there any special tool needed? Found side to side movement in my RR tire upon inspection and the movement is within the outer tie rod. Movement appears to be down in the rubber part on the other side of my finger down below...

Thanks for any help in advance.

I use a ball joint separator like the one pictured with good results.

That's good information. I replaced the inners as well, just to be done with it.

I have this precise one. It is great.

A pickle fork will take your suspension apart wherever ball joints are concerned, but it is a destructive tool. A ball joint separator will allow you to re-use the rubber parts it comes into contact with. Very important if, say, you want to replace something that is attached to a ball joint.

Also, the bottom part of it (the fork part) can easily be used as a pickle fork, except it's a lot less sharp.
