Welcome to the skinny one-car garage club. Fear I'll do the same. Have had 3 z28, 2 Corvettes, ok so far. My sympathies.

Looks great, but what about air flow? I read that this set up on a C5 will obstruct airflow & raise engine temps, possibly cause overheating.

http://extremedimensions.com/97-04-C...Vortex-FL.html

The vortex lip has a channel open in the middle to keep air flow, click on link, check out the photos.

I believe you're confusing this lip with C5R lip by the same company. The C5R lip is a simple flat carbon lip if that mounts to the bottom with zero air flow, whereas the Vortex lip has the center area that channels air directly to the rubber radiator damn.

Go here for a good comparison:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-c5r-lip.html

Now mind you some have had issues especially with lowered car, but others have reported no change in temps also.

After installation I noticed about a 10* decrease in temps, which was nice given SC summer temps, and with a new water pump/thermostat & program to kick the fans on sooner, I'm running a cool 180-190 regularly.

Ordered a Nitrous Outlet Winmax so I can finally go ahead and get the plate kit installed. Also tried to order a set of R888's from TireRack, but it wasn't letting me check out for some reason, guess I'll have to give them a call tomorrow and try to order over the phone.

Pretty pumped.

Sent trans and diff off to get built and freshened up. Will get back with 4.10 gear as well. C5Z with big cam LS3 with intake, exhaust and gears should run like a raped ape!

Took it to a Dyno Day in support of a fellow enthusiasts recent, sudden death... All of the proceeds went to his family. Put down 739/771

With sub-zero temps and snow, I started the Z up to charge the battery and warm up all fluids. Yes, it's also on a tender. If the roads clear up this week (and it doesn't look good at this time), I may break out (off the hill) to do a track day at MRLS, then road trip to AZ for a day a Barrett Jackson.

Mark.

Last few days checked off a few to-do items:
1. Installed LMC5
2. Installed CAGS-Skip
3. New hurst shifter ball

I screwed up the LMC5 install by skipping one of the first steps but Richard @ Compliance Parts got me sorted out super fast.

Really like the new shifter ball, plus it looks bad-***:

Finally had a decent day to play with the Z. Put C6 chrome Z wheels on, installed C6Z shifter, new shift boot, and did some black carbon fiber hash marks. I know most of you will say it needs lowered. It would look a little better yes, but I can't because of my driveway. I like the hash marks. Paying tribute to my 96 GS I sold to buy this.

Nice, I really like that shift boot, would you mind telling me where you got it?

I got it from Mid America Motorworks. I had gotten an armrest cover that's 2-tone and I wanted it to match.

No pics, but I installed the updated valve springs in my Z. I didn't want to risk a spring failure after reading some of the stories on here. It was really a simple job if you have a little mechanical ability and take your time. took me about 3 hours. I also did the Ranger method and installed a DEI Velcro heat shield on the clutch line (really close to the L/T's).

Default pulled drivetrain out.

Pulled the drivetain out for the second time in 6 months. lol

Installing:
Hinson polyurethane engine and diff mounts.
1/4" aluminum torque tube tunnel cover.
Rebuilding torque tube plus solid couplers.
all new exhaust gaskets.
catch can.
Speedbleeders and motul 600.

prolly some other stuff I'm forgetting. I have to say, pulling the drivetrain out when you know nothing is wrong with it is much less stressful. lol

Only had her 3 weeks now and its winter (just got a ton of snow) but installed my C6 shifter with custom boot, added my shiny again custom Jake plate between the exhaust, added some Rammat II behind the seats. Got lots more to do all winter.....

I'm kinda in the same boat. Just pulled my whole rear assembly and the torque tube, had a bolt come loose from the rear coupler on the drive shaft. I ordered a custom drive shaft with ZR1 couplers, good to 1000hp, from RPM, don't want to go thru this crap again. They suggest not going with solid couplers on the drive shaft. If you do they say you should re-torque at least once a year. This set up sounded like the way to go to me.
