How to make the C5 Z06 feel more euro like and buttoned down???
Just getting out of my Audi TTRS and back into a C5 Z06, and at first drive, it is more sloppy than I remember.
I think maybe I got spoiled with how tight and button downed a German car is.
I know the Z06 has higher limits, but how do you make the Z06 feel more Euro like?
I want a solid/tight, non-mushy feeling. Is that possible without spending $5K for a T1 package?
I want it to be OEM quiet as it's a street car.
Maybe ploy bushing all the way around and shocks?
I know it can be done, but can it be done without spending bank and without inducing clunks, rattles, etc.

It's over 10 years old!.
Do stuff like tires, shocks, alignment 1st.
Then worry about buying coilovers etc if it's still not good enough.
It also came with no sound insulation stock.
You want quiet, then a Z06 might not be the car for you.
I gues get a Partition, and see what you think.

I don't mean quiet cabin.
I mean quiet suspension components.
A lot of times when you add stiffer bushing, etc you induce suspension noises, clunks , etc

I have pfadt coilovers, and their big sway bars. No detectable noise as long as I keep the sway bar bushings lubed every 2 years or so. End-links don't make noise either.
Poly bushings in the A-arms may very well be a squeak fest.
They're also much harder to lube. I don't see many that go to that extreme on street driving c5's.

Has anyone tried the Euro C6 Z06 rear shocks? I too am disappointed with the stock shock valving. I recently put C6Z shocks on my 02 Z and while the fronts arnt bad, the rear has like no rebound valving and feels pogo stickish. I saw the C6Z euro rear shocks and read they were made to make the car feel more tied down on the autobaun. They are on clearance at rock auto, might just have to try them.

What surprised me and gave it a bit more solid feel was a change in Tires. Switch from Mich's PS2 to Conti Super Sport DWs. They are a bit softer in the sidewall but have remained quiet and with consistent grip above what I expected (both street and track). And a shock change on the first day (13+ years ago) to JRZ DAs.

buy a different car
z06 has more in common with tuner factory cars of the day. the one it reminds me most of is the integra type r. real similar theme and nothing like what you're comparing it to.
one thing to keep in mind with street cars is that you don't want a tight suspension. makes the car extremely unsettled over rough terrain and slow. give in the suspension keeps the tires in contact with the road. the faster you go, the more important this becomes. i really wouldn't want a stiffer street car, even stock the z gets dicey in some whoops in the road

Probably something like the DRM valved Bilstein shocks with base C5 springs and Michelin PSS or Conti DW tires (in a narrower size on narrower wheels) with a decent alignment and a nice pair of seats and vettenuts insulation kit + partition would be about as close as you can get.
The better but more expensive route would be to get a custom coilover kit from someone like LG or MTI but with softer spring rates and valving than they typically do for their track car customers.
Don't get poly/delrin bushings, that will have the exact opposite effect. Euro cars are FULL of rubber bushings. My other cars before the Z06 were a VW GTI, Audi S4, Audi allroad, Audi TT so I'm pretty well versed in the differences.
