Interesting front license plate DECAL
I stopped by a local cruise in this evening at a town in Texas near where I live in Oklahoma. There was a yellow GS that looked pretty sharp and as I was looking it over I noticed the front license plate was just a vinyl decal of some sort slapped on the nose. (See pic below.) I didn't get a chance to talk to the owner to find out what the deal was. I have no idea if it's legal or what. I don't know if he/she somehow peeled the actual vinyl off the real tag or if it's simply some sort of replica. The way it's slapped on the nose I would assume it comes off easily when not needed. Oklahoma is not a front tag state (THANK GOD!) so it dosn't matter to me but I am curious.

I think the license plate decal is cool. I saw this thread a while back and remembered taking a similar photo at one of the corvette events. It took me a while but I finally found the photos.
Its of a silver ZR1; taken at the Corvette car show in Boerne in 2013.

The yellow one has the same plate number on the front decal as the real plate in the back, so he must have had it made in a graphics shop somewhere. Would be nice if that would suffice as a front plate due to flexibility if nothing else. Thankfully, no front plates in my state. And I really don't see the utility of requiring them.

States like California require a front plate for their Red Light intersection cameras.
(Another revenue generator.)
The decal is a cool idea, but again in California, the front plate must be:
A: Reflectorized.
B: Plate number must be clearly visible
C: State name must be clearly visible.
If the decal can be shot onto reflectorized plastic, then it could work here.
Static-cling would be ideal as long as it can stay put at speed. Then we could
take on and off as we need to.
I hate the front plate. Nothing screws up a sports car like a front plate.

Texas plates are actually metal with a vinyl sticker on them. If you want to, you can peel the sticker off and stick it to the car. Still won't be legal, but I doubt many cops would really hassle you about it. I bought a removable mount kit, and just keep it in the trunk. If i get hassled, I'll tell them I had it off for a car show/club meet, which would typically be true.

Interesting but still ugly.

That is certainly a clever way of running a front plate without adding the bulky stock mount or blocking airflow through the grill.
In ND, I believe the license plate has to be level, so the yellow Vette may still be out of luck.
