Default Vararam C6 Throttle Body Spacer Just Tested And It Works!!!!

Dear Corvetteforum.com C6 Members,

We just finished our dyno testing on Vararam's newest product which is the C6 throttle body spacer.

We picked up 6 rwhp and 9 rwtq on the dyno and the best thing about it is that you can actually really feel the SOTP power gains. It also helped smooth out the C6's idle which is an added plus.

We have a few in stock and they install in about 30 minutes and come with longer bolts.

The power gains are great for this little piece.

We will have a bunch more in stock within the next two weeks.

Just thought we would update you guys with this great new product.

Thanks!

Shawn

Shawn,

Thanks. Sounds nice, but I've been through the gamut of NA mods and have never heard of a "throttle body spacer". Any pics, and/or do you have a description of where this installs and what it does?

TIA,
Mike

mikeyc6,

It is a brand new product for the C6 ONLY. Most aftermarket parts manufacturers had throttle body spacers for trucks and SUV's only.

On the C6, the throttle body spacer installs right before the throttle body. I can snap some pics and email them to you if you like.

You don't have to do that. I was just interested in the theory behind this. How does it get its power? Is it supposed to "straighten out" the air or something? Also, if you add a spacer, how is the rest of your intake supposed to line up? Won't it be off by the length of the spacer?

Sorry for the questions. I just can't imagine what this thing is or what it is supposed to be doing.

The theory behind the throttle body spacer is to improve the air flowing into the throttle body from the intake by straigtening the air and the result according to Vararam is to cause the addition of air and thus creating more power.

When you do add the spacer, all that happens is that your airbridge pins don't line up. Nothing else is affected.

All I know is that I was skeptical when Vararam wanted me to test out the spacer and when I saw the gains on the dyno, I was impressed. I was more impressed when I drove the car afterwards. It really does work.

TB spacer is an old trick. Normally they about 1 & 1/2" to 2" long with large spiral threads (not all of them though.) How they work is to supposed to "lengthen" the intake runners. Interesting enough is that they do add some grunt to the low end, but nothing at the upper rpm range which kinda supports the lengthen runner bit. My 3000 GT LOVED the spacer while it did nothing for my Gran Prix.

I just ordered the Lingenfelter intake kit for my C6; I wonder if this would help or if it is unnecessary?

First of all, Shawn and L.A.P.D. are no more.
Secondly, start a new thread. This one is 6 years old.
