Premium Exhaust Question
Picked up my new car Friday but dont understand the exhaust, how do I make louder, I sit in the drivway and turn the control to all the differnt mods but the exhaust noise stays the same, what am i missing here. Did I pay for something that really does not work ??

If you have the NPP exhaust, you should hear it get louder in sport and track. If you are not sure look at the two outside exhaust pipes to make sure you have the dampers and that they go open in sport of track modes.

Go to Settings, then go to
Vehicle - Personalization menu
Vehicle - Driving mode
Exhaust - Engine sound management
Exhaust - Off

Hopefully its not linked for some reason. Mine was linked by default though. Sport and track made an obvious difference even idling in the garage. Hopefully the dealer didn't screw up and forget to order it with npp.

At idle the difference is noticeable but not much. Under acceleration it is.
Even with sound management set to off the system will close the baffles sometimes.
If you want to be able to totally control it manually you can pull fuse 42 under the hood. Here's a good thread by forum member Theta:

If you have the NPP, you will hear a difference (even at idle) when linked to the drive modes.

Does it work the same way with the A8 and M7? I drive in sport all the time and have sound management tuned off and with the A8, it goes quiet once you reach about 35 mph unless you put your foot into the throttle.

It's not too loud to me regardless when inside the car. On the outside for a stock car it's decently loud. It's too quiet sitting next to my C6. You can't even hear the Stingray

Not a very forum friendly response. You could make the helpful suggestion to read owner's manual, even providing page numbers, if you have them, without the suggestive swear word. Hope you have a better day and a better attitude today!

The automatics go into AFM (4 cylinder) mode all the time, which activates a different set of valves that you can't control manually. Only way to prevent that in the A8 is to drive in paddle shift mode.
