Just had to chime in here
I'm 68 but purchased my first Vette when I was 24 so no mid life "crap" here. Have always loved Vettes.
All you need to do is look at a picture of a C7 or any Vette that is taken from the side. The wheels disappear and all you see is a black "blob" in the wheel well. A dark circle so to speak. This takes away from the view of the car.
Racers traditionally had hubcap-less wheels. Appearance matters.

Man...
Only 9 of us so far that are under 35?
At least the majority of us 9 made the right choice.

My "opinion" is chrome wheels set off the corvette far better than black. In fact I think black wheels on a corvette look "AWEFUL",

I am 24 right now, and hate the chrome rims. Chrome doesn't belong on sports cars. Every young person i know loves black rims, its the style right now. I bet when i am a old man and still getting cars with black rims, the kids of the future will say black rims are for old people.

but your missing the point. when you were younger chrome rims were the style. So you still to this day like the chrome rims.

When I was young, we drove around with no hubcaps, just black steel wheels because it was the trend. Now older, I like chrome, but on some C7s, I think black or machined face looks awesome. On my Lime Rock green, however, I think black would not look very good, so I have 2016 chrome wheels.

Oh and to answer your question, yes I have seen chrome wheels on race cars, Ferrari's and on 911 Porsches.

Had chrome wheels on my C5, on my C6, and on our 2010 SRX. However, I've come to the point where I'm tired of chrome wheels. So, my C7 has black wheels and our 2014 SRX has Midnight Silver.
I doubt I will ever get chrome wheels again. I'm over 60.

I used to see early 2000's 911's with chrome wheels every now and then, normally just silver, but now days they are almost non existent on a car that is everywhere. As the older generations fade out of buying sports/super cars, chrome wheels are being phased out with them.
Nothing we need a poll to tell us, it's predominantly an age thing with some exceptions, of course, including those DUB boys that make any car look like chit. Chrome was a fad of older cars, a part of how many of you fell in love with cars and carry though today like Mike said. One is not any better than the other (I won't go down the technical road of chrome wheels) and it's just a preference thing.
That being said.... I agree with Mike, IMHO they should have no part on a serious sports/super car.

I'm 42. My Stingray Vert, Jeep Grand Cherokee and my wife's Jeep Wrangler all have black rims. I think you have to get north of 50 before the die hard "chrome" guys kick in.

I think he means 95%+ are not chrome. You can get anything through Ferrari's Tailor Made program but the fact is chrome on any serious super car is very rare these days, and getting more rare by the year.

All you gotta do is a conduct a exotic car search for sale. I couldnt find a single new model Ferrari or Lamborghini that had chrome rims. In fact most have black rims.... I wonder why

Chrome Wheels
This one came with black the wheels, i had thought about going to chrome at first. I'm really-really old but now don't think I would like this one with chrome wheels.
This is the 1st Vett I've owned without chrome wheels.
