New owner needs a little performance upgrade advice
I got my 2016 1LT last October. This was my very first Corvette and I've gotten almost all my exterior upgrades done. The next level is performance. Since it's a 1LT package the engine is base everything. It does have the tunable exhaust.
I'd like to get a little more out of it with a bit louder exhaust and a few more HP.
1. I don't want to void my warranty.
2. I'd like to keep the Eco mode option if possible as the highway MPG is excellent running on 4 cyl.
3. I'd like to keep the cost around 3K
4. I'm in California so a cold air intake out of the question
Any ideas?

Looks like no legal headers in CA?
My son, who is a dealership mechanic, says there aren't any legal headers in CA because no manufacture wants to spend the huge dollars to get the part certified by CARB. He tells me they won't cause the vehicle to pollute more, and would pass a tailpipe emission test, but legally the visual inspection would have to show a CARB plate on the headers.

I had a similar question/buget, without the CA hassle.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-warranty.html
Looks like a ported stock throttle body, ported stock intake, and a green filter might help you get close to 20 rwhp, without tuning or being a mod that anyone would notice. Budget for those would be about $1,000.
I don't know if a Borla/Corsa catless x-pipe would still pass emissions in CA, but that would help your sound for $300-$400. The Borla is reported as being pretty much O.E.M.-looking.
Others with more knowledge will have more ideas. I just started researching this a couple of days ago, so I doubt I have the best answers for you.

Here's a list of safe mods:
1. Green filter
2. Ported Throttle Body
3. Ported Stock Intake Manifold
4. Ported Exhaust Manifolds
5. Aftermarket X-Pipe (Corsa)
6. Aftermarket Axleback (Corsa)
Then you can go into weight reduction.
1. Lightweight wheels with non run flat tires.
2. Lightweight battery...

After talking to a friend who has tried it all lol, he convinced me the small HP I would gain would be barely noticeable since I am limited with CA emissions. I thought about a procharger upgrade package but that was going to be close to 10K installed in San Jose, and my buddy said he blew an engine that way. In the end I decided to forget about HP (when I am really going to use it anyway) and decided instead to go with the Borla Atak exhaust and the exhaust diffuser. Thanks for all the replies

Are you planning on tracking the car? I'd follow the recommendations for track prep in the owner's manual. Next, I take a course in high performance driving.

I can tell you from experience that just putting on the diablo tune was enough of a HP increase that I could actually tell the difference. Great thing is that you can also remove the tune and replace with stock if you ever need to take the car in for anything (emissions, dealer, etc.). I am (however) still looking at putting an A&A SC on mine which will remove the diablo...

I would get a Vitesse throttle control. It's a very cost effective mod that will eliminate the throttle response lag. Here's a very good review written by a forum member:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-response.html
It doesn't add hp, but it makes the throttle response feel the way it should from the factory. If you search Vitesse throttle control on the forum you'll find a whole bunch of positive reviews. It doesn't mess with the ecu like a tuner does. Good luck!
