Ok, so I just came into a bit of money and I am looking to upgrade my exhaust. I know their are cheaper exhaust systems for the C7 (many of which have a drone problem I have heard). What I would like to know is, are akrapovic exhausts really worth the money? I like their looks, especially with the titanium tips and I have heard some other cars running Akrapovic and they sound great. What do you all think?
To be honest, no. There's no significant gains in an exhaust system alone and investing the amount of money in an Akrapovic system can damn near match buying a ECS supercharger system.
There are quite a few members who swear by the quality and precision of an Akrapovič system. Of course we know it sounds good, that's quite obvious once you listen to this:
When considering power and weight loss, Akrapovič does it's job there too. What sets Akrapovič from the rest is that it's a no-compromise system.
Solid gains throughout the powerband, loosing 40% of your factory system's weight (25.5lbs saved), and a system bound to give you goosebumps every time you get on it. You aren't just buying an exhaust system that'll give you power and make your Corvette perform better, you're buying the pleasure of being able to hear how a Corvette should really sound like (I know that's cheesy but that's how I feel).

Price out an ECS kit installed and tuned from vendor running a special, then tell me spending $4,000+ on exhaust is worth it.
Especially when the sound does not change much. Listening to how exhaust sounds on your computer is useless, it all sounds the same and IMO it all sounds bad.
I pre ordered the axle back system last june and was one of the first to have one. I've had it and got rid of it! valves never worked and no support what so ever! Drove my car around with valves stuck open and an SES light on for almost 9 months. Minus the defects in mine it did sound good and tips looked amazing!! Sad for that price you can't get anyone to help you out if its defective!!!
You sound like an ad. Anyway, the Akra system doesn't sound as good as my Corsa Extreme IMO. Moreover, the weight savings are minimal. Therefore, I'd say the cost versus gains does not add up.
Bottom line up front, anybody is better off pricing a supercharger system with that money because you get much more for your dollar with one.

So Akrapovic is claiming a ~19whp and ~26tq gain from just bolting on their exhaust???
Or is that with an accompanying tune?
That's just the exhaust itself. Akrapovič does three baseline dyno's of the stock vehicle, three dynos after the exhaust installed. Those three dynos are averaged out so you wont see any ridiculous gains, you'll see realistic figures. Ben at WeaponX just posted up this on his thread here - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1592250131

This was without any tuning changes. Up next is the Halltech intake addition, along with our WXM heat exchanger and B3R 2 gallon tank!
*Wideband wasn't hooked up on this one so AFR isn't accurate*

Ive sold a couple dozen of them already and they're not just a performer but a game changer in looks and sound. Hit me up, I'll take care of you.

I see HRE Jurrian responding to other comments, but nothing made to this one. No customer support here. So it appears like they only want to do sales and then when it comes to support they look the other way.
No, its not... Its a waste of money Get a set of ARH headers and whatever axle back system you like the sound of.
I went this route! Got a great deal on a set of 2" ARH w/o cats and Corsa Sports Exhaust from another Forum member. My installer wanted the Akrapovic system on his Z06 but after hearing my car, he didn't feel the price of the Arkapovic system was worth it compared to my setup. I really like the black tips on the Corsa.

I'm calling BS on any exhaust that claims gains like that with just a friggin catback and no tune.

TOTAL BS.
The dyno above was just done 2 days ago, numbers don't lie but then again why believe that when you can read about it from arm chair QBs on the internet...
