Default Epoxy sealer coat problems

Not all over but enough. On drivers side top surround, part of hood and top of one door. I used SPI epoxy , cut 25% with the slow reducer. Maybe I put it on too wet. It's over 80 today FWIW. I wiped off with solvent W&G cleaner, wiped off and let sit before painting. It went over Slicksand dry sanded to #400. I will let dry overnight AND ASSUME I sand these craters (IS THIS THE DREADED FISHEYE?) out and reseal?

solvent pop. shot too wet or reduced too much . epoxy gasses out real fast. just the nature of the beast. even unreduced if you hammer a coat it will do this.

Thanks for the quick response. Its been 2 hrs. Can I sand now with #400 or wait till tomorrow? Probably both too reduced and too wet. I'll try again tomorrow cut 10% and not shot as wet.

Conditions in the "booth" being what they are, it's a wonder that's the only problem.

Honestly.....and PLEASE forgive me but understand that I AM ON your side.

BUT...with all of the work you have done...go buy a roll of thick plastic and run it across the floor...up the wall...over the ceiling and down the other wall so you have at least taken out as much possible problems.

I call tell you I have shot cars in some really bad environments due to not being able to be moved. and doing it on site at the owners house. AND I can tell you I DO NOT know why it does it...but you can gelcoat, prime and seal a car and it can turn out fine.....you can even shoot the basecoat ad all is fine and dandy...BUT...when the clear goes on....that is when ALL HELL breaks loose and there is so much trash and problems it is a wonder why NONE of this ever showed up before.

OR...if plastic is out of the question....you can shoot some of that 'slime' that 'porchdog' mentioned because it will lock down and seal in any small pieces of crap...which will be you NEMESIS. It isn't so much the mosquito or horse fly.....it is the large volume if fine crap that floats down into the finish....or even goes off your clothing.

This is the time when the car needs to be in the most SURGICALLY CLEAN environment possible. I spray my walls and floors with KEY MASK and it will lock down all of the crud...then...once I get sick and tired of the booth looking crappy...I simply wash it out and it comes back spotless clean due to nothing can stick to the KEY MASK which is ...what I have been told a liquid soap that dries.

If you do nothing due to being 'bagged and tagged' and ready to paint...I truly hope it comes out really good for you.

...and I had that same "pop" the first time I used SPI epoxy in an area where I know I hosed it on too thick.
