Heater running non stop even with a/c on
I've read on here somewhere about this issue and now my '88 coupe is also blowing heat non stop. I purchased the plastic clip that was posted on a thread that seemed to be the problem. I believe it is for the hot/cold switch on the heater core. Now I have to install it. What is the best way to do this? I have larger hands and I've heard that it's not easy to get to. Any help or secrets for this??
Thanks.
Thanks.

Do you have a LEVER for heat control and a twist **** for blower control? If yes C60.
If not and C68 there are many interesting reads. Here's a post with an image of the C68 control

Woops, sorry. The clip I guess is for air blend door motor. I'm not a fan of working upside down on my back in cramped spaces plus I wear glasses. I've had to do this job recently. I pulled the top dash off and since I do not have the bread box anymore (replaced by a discontinued map pouch), I removed the map pouch. Drop the lower hush panel, remove some upper duct work, drop the ECM and it's holder and while sitting in the passenger seat you can work on the blend door.

This article on replacing a heater core has a lot of useful reference material that relates to your situation:

You can force the system to recalibrate the blend door by briefly removing the CTSY/CLK fuse. That will make the HVAC controller forget its settings and it will have to recalibrate. It will default to heater at 75°.

I pulled out the temp control unit yesterday and put a thin layer of solder on the connectors like this recommended. This idea was genius. It works perfectly now. The heat still runs though. Which means I have to put the clip on the door lever by the heater core. I am not looking forward to this job but it has to be done.
Thank you for all of the solid advice on this. It has made the repairs as easy as possible.

You want both #14 and #4 in this image I'd think.
