Hi all,

I've decided to change my U/J's on my halfshafts and driveshaft. I will need part numbers and recommendations for the best ones to buy please.

Hi Coz,
I believe people report that they've been pleased with Spicer brand u-joints from someone like Bairs Corvettes.
Regards,
Alan

5245A for the driveshaft
Not sure for the half-shaft

Spicers here also. Since I don't drag race mine anymore, I went with the greaseable style.

Spicers for me too. I figure, if they'll stand up to semis and tractors, they're good enough for my vette.

Assuming Dana Spicer is the same place? There is a Dana place here in Melbourne Australia only about 30kms from me. I'll give them a call on Monday and see if they have the parts I require.

How do you know when it's time to change them?

Look for any movement in them when the car stands are under the control arms. Also apparently any signs of red dust are an indication that they need to be changed. I've been having clicking noises when going around corners and lately straight driving which can also be a cause.

Got mine from www.drivetrainamerica.com

I rang Dana Spicer here today. They don't sell to the public so I had to order them through a truck repair centre.

5-1350X- $50ea x 4
5-1330X- $42ea x 2

Total- $284.00 plus 10% gst

OUCH

Your local auto parts store can help you with the correct joints. Roughly 10-12 bucks apiece......any thing costing more is way overkill.....

photobucket

There are only a few companies making or manufacturing U`Joints and as I say your chances to get one of those is greater than you think....however they are all good. Its just the installer with a BFH and Vice..........

I'm in Australia mate and need the joints in the next few days. Importing them from the U.S will take at least a week to get here. We are moving house in a few days so if I don't have the parts within a few days and get the car to the mechanic I'll probably have to pay a tow truck about $200 to transport the car to where we're moving to.

Everything always happens at once with me, seriously
