1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L88

Talk about having a chance to pick up a great piece of Corvette history. Can you imagine being the lucky stiff driving home from auction with this beauty?

The 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L88 is one of only 216 models produced. It reportedly puts out 500-plus horsepower, despite factory claims that the modified 427-cubic-inch V8 only cranked out 435 horses, as highlighted in a Car and Driver report.

A hallmark piece of Zora Arkus-Duntov’s legacy, the ‘Vette was built with the goal of being used specifically on the track. It was only offered with a few options, like an enhanced suspension system, Positraction differential, and higher-performance brakes, true to the spirit of a pure racer during the period. Convenient and comfort features like an AC and radio weren’t even offered in the vehicle.

The L88, which was recently showcased at Monterey 2015, is valued at anywhere from $500,000 to $750,000.
