Corvette Thunders to a Glamorous Victory at Long Beach

Long Beach

The No. 10 Konica Minolta Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP piloted by the superstar Taylor brothers — Ricky and Jordan — roared to victory at the Long Beach Grand Prix last weekend. And although it may not be a factory supported Corvette team, it still speaks heavily of the American racer’s world-class performance.

Considered by many as the Monaco of the Americas, the Long Beach Grand Prix is a beautiful, exciting, and glamorous place to hold a race event. Yet it’s the bumpy and narrow streets that make it an enormous challenge for the brave drivers behind the wheel of these high-power and high-downforce machines.

Unfortunately, a couple of factory Porsche 911 RSRs negated the Corvette C7 R its 100th victory, but we all know it’s just a matter of time until the factory Corvette team gets its badass “Jakes” into the top step of the podium, specially as the big dog — the 24 Hours of Le Mans — is only two months away.

While the the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship boys put on a great show, it’s the Indycar circus that took center stage at Long Beach, as you can see in the photos below. That and the many celebrities who could be seen parading the paddock, like Mario Andretti and Oscar de la Hoya.
