GM is Going to Pay You to NOT Flip Your C8 Corvette Z06

C8 Corvette Z06 buyers will get $5,000 in reward points for hanging on to it for 12 months, but will flippers care?

The C8 Corvette Z06 is obviously one of the hottest vehicles on the market, a car that many plunked down deposits in an effort to purchase some time ago, even after its lofty price tag took many by surprise. Demand will quite obviously exceed supply in a big way when the C8 Corvette Z06 does launch in the coming weeks or months, which means that a lot of people lucky enough to secure one will be selling it for a big profit. However, those that actually keep it may be getting a handsome reward from GM for doing so, according to an email recently sent to prospective Z06 owners, as first reported by Corvette Blogger.

To be more specific, those that purchase a C8 Corvette Z06 and keep it at least 12 months will receive 500,000 My Chevrolet Reward Program points, which is equivalent to $5,000. Those points can be redeemed for all sorts of things, including parts, accessories, service, OnStar, Chevy-connected plans, and even applied toward payments, which is pretty interesting. The email also points out that this offer is only “for a limited time,” so it’s unclear how long it will run. Details, as it turns out, are otherwise scant.

This is undoubtedly a nice offer, and we’re certain that those who purchase and keep their Z06 will appreciate it. But the real question here is – will it actually cause flippers to second-guess their decision to sell the car for a profit? Considering the fact that these cars are likely going to sell for tens of thousands over sticker price, well, we’d guess not.

Regardless, this is a very interesting strategy to combat the flipping epidemic that we’re currently embroiled in, where getting your hands on  a new, desirable vehicle often requires either paying some big dealer markup or securing it from a third-party for a hefty premium.
