Story of Corvette dumped in Delaware River is a doozy

C4 Corvette being pulled out of the Delaware River

Behind every Corvette winding up in a river, there’s a great story. Sounds a bit bizarre, huh? Then again, maybe not after hearing John Kramer’s account about why he drove a candy-apple-red Corvette he bought for his daughter into the Delaware River.

“I just wanted to get rid of it,” John told the Daily News. “I was sick and tired of everybody fighting over a car I paid $36,000 for.”  John, who has been tied up in a bitter divorce dispute, first made news after driving the Corvette into the river, then swimming to safety.

The unfortunate drowning of the Corvette apparently started when John showed up at his estranged wife’s house asking for keys to a minivan parked behind the house.

When the estranged wife, Stephanie, said she’d give up the van if John returned the Corvette, he decided to drive it into the lake. The story takes a number of twists and turns, but get this: one of the biggest reasons John cites as the impetus for ditching the ‘Vette in the water is that he didn’t want his daughter’s boyfriend to beat up on the car when driving it.

Priceless, and certainly worth the full read that you can find here. Also check out the video below.
