Default Why was the LT1 engine classification reused?

Tadge, as you know the LT1 and LT4 engine classifications were both previously used over the years. Can you provide any explanation as to why GM chose to reuse the engine name classifications "LT1" and "LT4" for the new redesigned Corvette engines versus coming up with a new name classifications?

Thanks

Anthony

LT4 is also reused, it was the 330HP small block in the C4 GS (and later years all manual C4s got it, I believe).

Correct. All 1996 manual-transmission Corvettes (including the Grand Sports) got the LT4. It was also briefly used in one of the 4th gen Camaro models as well, in 1997 I believe.

Ahh good point. I suppose I should update the question to ask why both the LT1 and LT4 were both reused.

I think your question, and my question (linked below), could easily be wrapped together into one more comprehensive question.

Ahh, yes good point I think it could be combined as well. You wanna just update your post to include the verbiage from my question and we can just use your thread then?

JVP, you can close this thread. We'll use Kracka's question moving forward since he combined our questions. Thanks!
