I am upgrading my stereo with two Xtant amps and an Alpine ERA-320. I have an Alpine CDA-7998 and need to know how to best hook these things up. I pretty much know how to hook the amps up to the ERA-320, but need to know how to best hook up the ERA to the HU. Is using one RCA connection from the HU to the ERA good enough? Or, should I hook it up via the AiNet connection? If I use the AiNet connection, do I need to change the little EQ switch on the side of the HU. Also, will I be able to control the ERA via the HU if I use the AiNet connection? I have the ERA controller and would rather control the ERA through it, unless the AiNet connection produces better sound quality. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I have the 7998, and used to have a 320 - I would LOVE to get another 320, it's the best EQ EVER made!!!
You will have to reset that switch on the side, that, I think, disables the internal EQ, with is required for this stunt. You will also want to turn off the media expander. The BBE is 10x better, anyway.
The AINet is a buss connection, as such, is less prone to external noises. The CD player will piggyback into the AINet controller, if you go that way. The cable should be long enough to get to the rear hatch (and you might be able to still get an extension cable) then run the shortest possible RCAs to the amp.
This combo should be killer. I mean KILLER. I would LOVE to get another ERA-G320...
