96' Sounds
i removed the jack and modified the styrophome holder to support the cd changer connected it into the antenna and used the factory power signal wire to fire it up when the radio turns on. its a lot easier than youd think. just make sure you get that scematic first couse theres a lot of little wires back there good luck
Will one from Circuit City or Best Buy do the trick??
Are they hard to change?? Its a factory non-bose cassette now..
Try a Corvette Fourm site search on "Metra" and you should find loads of links about people who have installed whatever head unit they want into any make/model of corvette made. Kits are referenced in the all knowing, somewhat all covering, Sticky FAQ listed at the top of this forum section every time you access it. Its been covered hundreds of times in numerous posts and thread discussions. A little searching on your own can go a far way to helping youself, and some self control on pressing the "New Thread" button would lessen the agrivation by people like myself that have answered the same question over and over again, with the same exact answer - over and over again.
So, a breif answer is, Metra makes a it for you 96. You can put any head unit you want in it. There are links in the Sticky FAQ about where to look for an adapter for your head unit, and wiring diagram links as well. If you've chosen to put your own head unit in, and you can read simple diagrams on how to wire your new head unit to your old bose wiring, you'll be ok

as far as the dash kits go, Metra or forum member vrumvrum
you can't easily just replace the head unit, you really need to replace the speakers as well and rewiring is probably a good idea too
Not entirely true.
Some head units are perfectly capable of taking the odd impedience load of the original Bose equipment speakers. If he is only interested in replacing the head unit only, he CAN do it, and the Bose speakers will sound perfectly fine and somewhat loud still. Dont expect a head unit with a 4x15 watt built in amplifier to do so, it will have to be a bit of a robust head unit. Im no big Pioneer fan, but they do make the DEH series, that can easily take the weird impedience of the Bose speakers perfectly fine. The factory wiring is fine for supplying power to the stock speakers, once the amplifiers in the pods are bypassed. Or, the preamp outputs of any head unit could be intergrated into the original bose speaker amplifer inputs. It would just take a bit of wire swapping on the wiring harness interface at he head unit.
Things CAN BE DONE with original equipment, to an extent. Just dont expect the world of it. Options like this can be observed by people who at the time of the purchase of their nifty new expensive head unit, may not have the funds to buy matching replacement speakers. There are always options.
also, Darth Vader, how many times are you going the ask the exact same question in a new thread? We're not going to give you any new answers.
