Default Remote installed Radar detectors....any advice or experience?

Hello. I'm a first time Vette owner with a nice new C6. Love the car, love the performance.

So I figure what better way to introduce myself to the forum then to ask a question of one of the most debated subjects . I've searched the forums and haven't been able to find much on remote radar systems. So....here goes ....

I'm wanting to have a remote detector system installed in my C6. The 3 systems that I can find that are worth it are the Beltronics RX75, the Escort SR7, and the K40. As great as the V1 is, it's not an option as you have to put the darn thing in the window (I want it completely hidden, no suction cup marks, no having to store it or pull it out, no cables, etc...). I really wish Mr. Valentine would get over it and make a remote sensors model to install at the front and back of the car (the loss in sensitivity and range is extremely minimal, especially when combined with laser sensors/jammers). For those that want a completely hidden solution it would allow him to capatalize on that market . I also don't care about POP radar as it's defeatable in court without a back-up normal radar reading (and I'm pretty sure it's not used in California).

So hence I wanted to hear opinions / experience people have had with these systems. From what I've researched on Radartest.com, speedlabs.com, speedzone.com, and radarbusters.com (along with Motortrend and various other car mags), it seems both the RX75 and SR7 are better than the K40. The radar ranges were near identical with the RX75 and the SR7, and were better than the K40 with the exception of the rear (and they still provided a mile of rearward detection). The laser detection / jamming was light-years better than the K40 at the time of the test, and also due to the fact that the RX75 and SR7 have 2 detectors / transmitters for the front instead of just the one that the K40 has.

So what say you all? Any weirdness in the install? Any anomalies to be aware of? Where did you mount the head unit (with regards to the RX75 and SR7)?

I have alot of experience with K40 and none with the other companies. I have owned about 10 of them and have a what was top-of-the line Undetectable system in my garage. I never had a problem with any of them. I like the K40 Undetecable because it is very easy to intergrate perfectly into the car. I have installed at least 50 of them and always in a hidden fashion. I can tell you I have never had anyone come back with a broken one. Hope that helps.

I went with the Bel 975R mounted in the ash tray area of my C5. The detector portion is mounted inside my front bumper dead center behind the front plate area. I did all of the installation myself, and I am very happy with it. If the RX75 is the new/upgraded version of mine I'd bet that it is one great unit.
