If the Pioneer radio has enough pre-amp outputs you can connect directly to the Bose amp/speakers; if not you will need to replace the speakers and maybe wiring.
I pulled a Pioner head unit with disc changer and speakers out of my current 89 and put the stock bose back in it. I will trade you the COMPLETE Pioneer head unit and changer adapter and wiring for all your stock bose stuff.
I dont know if I want to do all that work, I just wanted a cd player, the car is mint and I dont want to butcher it up, If I decide to change the radio I will let you know....
The easist way to put a CD player in your 87 vette is to order the AM/FM CD player from Mid America Motorworks #618-204. Its a little pricey, but it is a direct swap out and you maintain a clean factory look. I put one in my 87 convertible. It took about 15 - 20 minutes and it works great.

thanks
My vette came with a 6 disc changer tied into the factory head using FM modulation. A nice way to get CD without altering the factory setup.
I just removed all my Bose and the 6 disc changer. The changer is available if your looking for a cheap fix.

That's what I added to my stock system before my Bose amps started to go and I put in a whole new system. Worked great with the old system and still works great with the new one. You can find units that will mount nicely in the compartment behind the passanger's seat.

I added a 10 disc unit to my stock system before my Bose amps started to go and I put in a whole new system. Worked great with the old system and still works great with the new one. You can find units that will mount nicely in the compartment behind the passanger's seat.
I had the same situation you did. I didn't want to go to the expense of replacing the whole stereo. The Bose system is still working, so I had a 10 Disk CD/MP3 changer installed. Keeps the stock look and you still get CD's. Mine is mounted in the back. Takes some of the room, but there isn't really that much back there anyways
