Can I install an amp and subs with the factory headunit? If so, how? Do I need a converter etc.? Ive SEEN folks with the subs, but does the headunit have outputs? Also need help how do i put in capacitor, does it just go inline before the amp? Yea im dumb, but need to know soon. Please help!!!
A capacitor is installed inline with the positive lead. Positive goes to one post and then there is a ground post. As for the amp install. No the radio does not have the usuall RCA outputs. There is proably an adaptor that can be installed to give you the RCA outputs. I have not seen anyone install a sub in a C6 yet...does not mean it has not happened though. I can check on Monday about available adaptors though if you like.
Let me add my 2 cents. There are adapters that cut the output level down to a pre-amp level that is then fed into your new amp. But, I don't think you will be happy with it. The volume control will not be linear. In other words, it won't be smooth. As you adjust the volume up slowly, it will all of a sudden jump up a lot louder. The audio quality will also suffer. Go the extra $200 and buy a good head unit like Alpine or Clarion, you will be glad you did.
