I just finished installing some new audio equipment in my Z06, but want to upgrade my 6 1/2 Audiobahn door speakers to bigger and better subs. I have an Xtant amp powering those speakers. So, I need some recommendations on the biggest subs I can fit in the door. Price is no object......so, recommend away! Thanks.....
Money no object? We'll have you buying a trailer with 8 Tulmut's behind your vette.
Allthough I hate JL, the W0's make great subs for infinite baffle. CDT now has 8" door subs, they go for about $180...I was close to buying a pair. One good speaker I like for 8" door speakers, is the Dayton audio 8" woofer/sub. They're like $50 a pair off of parts express and Ive put them in Z28's rear locations before, and it sounded like I had one 10" sub back there. Was really surprised for the price....I had just planned on blowing them, but in the end, kept them in the car for killer midbass.
Im sure anyone here on this area of the fourm could go on and on about which ones to choose, but will probably tell you what to steer clear of better. My humble suggestion to you is read up a bit on a couple of different brands that you fancy, and post your choices. That way the folks here can give you a reason why or how well each would work.
An infinite baffle design is defined as an enclosure that contains a greater volume of air than the Vas of the driver. Look for speakers where the Qts is greater than .6, and a Vas lower than the actual volume available that it interacts with. There are tons of different brands to choose from....just as long as you look for a high Q speaker
