Default Subthum dual 10" box

Hello. I am interested in the Subthump dual 10" box for my C5. I currently have some Fosgate punch HX2's sitting around but I am not too sure about only .49 for each sub in that box.... Do you think with that little amount of air space it will sound good, or should I just do the single box? Also if I had to I could sell the subs I have now for something that would work better in the dual box. Thanks!

Well I already have 3 of those HX2's I took out of my old car. I like a lot of bass so I am sort of worried 1 isn't going to be enough.

Hey. Nice setup! I saw that on the subthump website. I think I am going the single route. I realized that it will be on the bose system so I can't have it too loud, also for weight. Thanks for the help everyone. I will post pictures as soon as I finish. Also do you ever put the cover over the sub? Does the sound change at all? Thanks.

I took the rear compartment cover and cut a hole in it that the subs high rail would clear. I mounted a 15" grill over the sub to protect it. Still sounds great, no clearance issues, no rattle issues. The subthump box was ideal for this sub.

Ya, I have heard nothing but good comments about subthump boxes, great price too. Local shops wanted to charge me $350+ for a box to go there!!

Thanks for the compliments:-) The hx2s are made to work in pretty small spaces. Therefore, they will sound just fine with that amount of air space. If you do plan to use box, then be ready, because this thing will pound your brains out. I'm not joking, it will hit hard..

At first, I thought 2 10"s in 1 cube would not cut it but I found this on the RF HX2 10"

30-200 Hz frequency response,150-500 watts RMS (250 watts per voice coil) power range, peak power 1,000 watts, sensitivity 85 dB SPL, top mount depth 5-7/16",sealed box volume 0.2-0.75 cubic feet, ported box volume 0.75-1.75 cubic feet

I think you made a great choice with the subthump box

I got those specs out of an older crutchfield so that was the basis of my recommendation I personally like the older RF's over some of their newer models.

Default subs and amp help

I currently have a JL250/1 feeding a 10w3v2-d4.

I bought a JL500/1 and a dual sub box to plunk in some 10w6v2-d4's.

After reading this thread, I think I should just stick with one 10w6v2-d4 with the upgraded amp.

Any input on this move? Should I go with the duals and the new amp?
Or stick with one sub and the new amp?

These are going in mike76002's boxes that he made. Either way, I will have a spare box for sale in Chicago(black carpet)

Did the install yesterday! I love it!! Subthump box is better then i could have ever imagined. Everything fit perfectly and it sounds amazing! And it is on the stock HU and stock speakers. I am very happy with the outcome and I will try to take some pictures and post them in a few days.
