I have a 94 with the typical bose gold issue (when its cold it doesn't play CDs). I have a guy here in Michigan that will fix it for 160 and a 2 to 3 day turn around.
Anyone know if this price is on, or if its high? Also has anyone tried to fix it themselves? He said he is replacing the entire CD portion of the radio.
I used Same Day Automotive Audio in Chesapeake,VA. He charges $100.00 to fix the CD and refurbish. $15.00 for return shipment. Bose speaker repair is $55.00 each or 4 for $200.00. No additional shipping if sent together. I don't have their phone number handy but contact Rich at rch72@aol.com. Great service, one year warranty and fast turn time.

I know Bose has extreme name recognition, but that system that came with the C4 is the biggest piece of crap around. Almost everyone who has a Bose system that came in their C4 has had some type of problem with it. The price you were quoted seems about average, but if it were me, I wouldn't spend a dime on it because odds are, down the road, something else is bound to fail. Take the money that you would spend on repairing it and buy yourself a nice MP3 player. They came down so much in price that you can get one now for around $200. Might be meaningless and probably is, but it's just my $.02.

Some people are just weary of doing anything beyond stock...Its like with me and L98 head work. I know how its done, what to do, but im afraid to work on my engine beyond what I know. I think its the same way around for people who have no idea how the bose system, or any replacment equipment works.
