not to get on anyones case or anything but there seems to be alot of hype over nothing with certain installs...... sure you can do a traditional no brainer/run the wires/mount where ever u can install but if everyone here has the cash to buy/lease a corvette (c4/c5) then put a few dollars into the stereo setup and have it look like it belongs there........ all this hype about standard ways really doesn't need to be...

just my $.02

Did somebody have a bad Monday?

Not everyone who owns a Corvette is hemoraging cash out the wazoo! C4's can be found for significantly under $10K, and early C5's are under $20K now unless they have very low miles. I don't know about anyone else, but my mods come one at a time, almost always when they're on sale or GP, and only if I have the cash to spare.

yeah...it's a little confusing. 'have it look like it belongs' means to me that it should look like it was installed by the factory, but then i am confused about 'all this hype about standard ways'.

I think the 'hype' is the fact that we give to most of the installs here. What he's missing is that we give thumbs not only on the system but the fact that the members tackled it themselves and have done a great job.

Who cares if you just add an amp and sub or go b@lls out like knewblewkorvette (for instance) as long as you enjoy working on it or at least the final results then

uh, ok. whatever.

We all don't have the luxury of stripping our cars down to zip and rebuilding the interior with custom fibreglass dashboards.

Sure, your install is awesome, but it may not sound any better then mine. only time and honest appraisal will tell us that.

Well if that was he problem, then maybe he should have spent a little more money in some consultation for choosing a better color paint for his car! I am sure he may like it, but it looks like a sportscar for a lepercon!

what crowd? go to any audio board and show off where you put your new speakers and you will get flamed cause they are way too close together and with all that work you have not given any thought about imaging, or stereo separation...but hey at least it looks cool

Well I aplogize if I did something wrong by giving the to installs. I seriously didn't understand this post, therefore, the "huh?"

Like ScottFx said, I too like to give the to those who have first rate installs and those who have really put allot of blood, sweat, and tears into installing it themselves (even if they use sub-par equipment) I done many an install over the last 20 years, some awesome, some crappy. All were hard work and it took practice and mistakes to get the point where the installs got better and better.
Personnally, I think you are doing awesome job by doing all that work yourself. I look forward to the final pictures, I even like the green.
Jay

PS I know what "save the wave" is. I wish more Vette owners in Iowa did. Most non-vette drivers wave at me, they just use the middle finger to do so :o

With that attitude, this guy reminds me of those people who read through Car Audio & Electronics and tell all their buddys how it would be so cool if he did this or that to his car, then supermodifies his ride to the point of non-completion and it ends up in the junk yard. Ive seen it happen too many times.

But maybe he'll prove me wrong...

maybe i did put the speakers in the wrong place for all that spl/sql perfection...maybe i did mold in the bumpers and shave the door handles and locks and people thought i was stupid, maybe i was stupid for chroming out the rear suspension, maybe i was stupid to attempt to do something that people won't do cause they don't have the ***** to do it........ laugh at me...i don't really care....... i'm doing what i am doing cause i can........ sure, i can leave it stock and just drive it but since it's my project then i'll have at it......... give me about 6 weeks and it'll be finished........ with that said i have to get to the garage and finish the body work.....ohh yeah....i forgot to say that i did all the work on the car so we can play the ask me about my car and i'll ask about your car game.......hows that sound....... i forgot.. hows..THAT..s..o.u.....n...d......... that was in stereo........
