i never said to leave anything stock, but IMO if you are going to go that far to make your own dash piece at least make it functional, and get the best sound from your speakers intead of making a flashy install that would probably sound better if the speakers where in the factory locations

You speak about the 'corvette community' well i think supporting fellow vette owners is a strong show of the 'corvette community'. rather then 'blanket bashing' whole groups based on the what and how they choose to spend thier money, try to keep a positive attitude. Yeah, some people on here are really well off, but it doesn't mean that they have to spend all thier money on a car. If adding a simple 3.5" speaker makes the vette experience a little sweeter to them, then who are we to judge?
Personally i have no problem with you. I even offered suggestions that would possibly improve your setup that wouldnt require you to redo everything; though, i think your post was in bad taste and was the poorest show of being part of the vette community. I wish you luck in your project but don't expect many
