Questions for a change
I have two questions.
1. On an Alpine HU, can I use the speaker level outputs and the RCA outputs at the same time?.
2. The center chanel needs to be in mono (L+R). Is it possible to achieve a mono speaker level output signal from a HU w/out using an amp?
My thought is to use the front RCA to amp a component set, the front speaker level outputs in mono to drive the center channel. Use the rear speaker level outputs for rear fill, and the sub RCAs to a sub amp and subs.
As far as mixing the channels there are several ways to do that but that all depends on the setup of the head unit. Some have floating grounds, some don't. I believe there are several passive boards out there that you can get that will mix and allow adjustment of the volume. You just have to se a search.

The amp - MRA-D550
The processor - PXA-H700
I would do the processor... it has more function and the amp isn't all that powerful.
I picked up an Alpine 9855. The digital time correction is pretty good on its own for most to perceive a front channel as it is. I'm thinking its just a 3.5" speaker and shouldn't need much juice to fill the gap in the front stage.
