I'm having a problem with my 1994 factory CD player. It may play a CD every tenth time, but the rest of the time it reads the CD for about 10 seconds and ejects with after displaying "Err".
These are original CDs. It refuses to play a home-made CD entirely. I used a CD player Cleaner and get the same results.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

I have a 93 and my CD player is having problems too. I hear these units are prone to go out. If I put a CD in mine, it wants to keep it and not play anything. Radio or the CD. I have to hold the eject button down for at least 5 seconds before it will finally spit the CD out. Needless to say, I have not put a CD in since.
My next winter project is to send the radio/CD unit to Mid America to be rebuilt for $299.99,
Look on Ebay under "Bose Gold" there is a guy in Virginia that repairs them includind a upgraded laser to play CDRs for $100 plus shipping
His user name is Rch72 or Rich72 (I can't remember)
He did a great job for me as well as several other members I sent to him
Here is a link to a Tech Tip I wrote to aid in the removal process

That's a great suggestions Justardnk! I think that may be the best option. Your removal process write-up is very well done. I'm jumping on this one. Thanks.

Had similar problem with my 93, Pulled radio sent to DR.Don's (found on ebay) with $130. check and $15.00 return postage. Had radio out and back in 5 days and it works like new.
Justardnck, it's rch72, I just sent my unit to him and all four Bose amps. After emailing him my problems we decided that I needed to have the amps rebuilt too. Just go to ebay and "buy-it-now" on his 90-2000 corvette radio repair auction. Really seems to be a nice guy.

I have talked to him on the phone and he is a very nice guy and he seems to know what he is doing.
I too am having some problems with some of my speaker amps and I was going to send my stereo back so he could install an MP3 input jack on it.
