Is the Terk XM add on unit worth using? It is priced right, if it works good.
Anyone have any experiance with it.
I am thinking of using it with my Pioneer DHP77DH and now is the time to do it since I am not finished with the install of my interior. thx.
I like the channel selection better on Sirius so I added the Siriur Starbase.... http://www.siriusbackstage.com/forum...ic.php?t=19470
it looks a lot like the XM Commander. I've had it for a couple weeks now and I'm very happy with it. Hope this helps.
I just bought the terk units for my Alpine instead of the Alpine XM unit. I couldn't find a reference to the Alpine XM unit on their website any more. I have an Alpine XM unit in my truck.
There are 2 required, a receiver and an adapter box which is required for whatever brand HU you need. The price was right at about $100 for both, however...
It didn't work.
No sound on channel 1 I called tech support, got through right away. We did a few tests while I was talking to him and he concluded I needed to return the receiver which I did.
Now the HU is displaying properly but still no sound. I'll probably need to replace the adapter box too.
Don't know if this is a reflection of the quality or my usual bad luck when it comes to making a purchase.
On the other hand, my daughter is very happy with hers.
Looks like I can't directly plug into the AI-Net cable I have running back to my disk changer. There are 2 pigtails coming out of the Terk unit to allow for daisy chaining. One has a female end and one has a male end. Apparently the correct plug needs to go to the HU.
The extension cord running to the CD changer has the same plug on each end. Interesting thought process by Alpine. It's like making an extension cord with 2 male ends and having an appliance such as a fan use the same female plug that's in the wall.
Exactly what I did. The Terk unit has a 16 terminal plugin. I swapped the blue wires, the green wires, and the yellow wires. I was expecting to have problems with my CDA changer but it worked too.
Much better than having to remove the HU, locate the boxes under the dash and run the antennea back to the trunk area.
I have an Alpine XM unit in my all metal F250 XLT Lariat (dude) with the antennea on the roof. I'm in the Seattle area on the 47th parallel and I lose reception in the vette at a particular area with a hill and tall trees to the east.
The truck doesn't lose reception at all, but maybe once in a while.
I installed the Terk XM unit today. My head unit was NOT listed on the Terk package, but Pioneer stated the headunit (DEH-P77DH)was XM ready.
The Terk units plugged right in and worked perfectly.

That is the exact same unit I installed in my 2004 Coupe. It beats the hell out of FM Radio
I installed the antenna on top of the rear tail light opening lip and the reception is pretty good
It is a good alternative until I can save up the money to replace the entire sound system
