Got the 9855 installed. Big step backwards...
The 7998 had a better display, better interface,
More buttons meant fast and easy access to what I want now.
I could easily adjust the xover on the fly on the 7998, its a hassle on the 9855
The glide touch bar is just stupid and inconvenient.
But the 9855 supports ipod. So it stays.
I would be satisfied with the 9855 if the "Rotary encoder" (Volume ****) could be used to go through the folders/artists instead of the strip.

I know what you mean. It takes a lot of learning to get used to. It has it's benefits tho. Once you get comfortable with it then it is actually easier to get to the buried menus and features (like selecting different EQ profiles for different music) when you are on the go. (Still not sure why you can title a CD and have that stay in memory but you can't assign an EQ profile to that same CD so it is recalled automatically). But ya, it really is an i-pod influenced design. I think it's a fad. Either way it's a damn nicely featured headunit!
