Default Focal speakers

I thought I was all set on my speaker selection until I heard these speakers in a stereo store. They sounded great. I was just wondering if anyone has these speakers and also what you thought of them.

Focals are extremely natural sounding speakers in a car environment. Of course all the lines are good, I use a hybrid mix of the polykevlars in my competition sound quality vehicle. Can't go wrong with the Utopias either if money is not an issue.

I love my Focals ... they were pricey though ...
A lot of people like the MB Quarts too ... They both have really good tweeters - Many say that Focal tweeters are a little brighter than the MB Quarts - but personally, I like the Focal tweet's best.

I have a closet full of focals at the moment. They are great speakers. I have used the utopia for 4 years now and they have taken all that I have thrown at them. I used them in my sound quality vehicle, then I redid a system and used the poly-kevlar's which is another great choice. Only thing I have is if you have warranty work that needs to be done, it will take awhile because they are from France. I definately like them more than the Quart's, I think Quart's performance has declined since DEI bought them. Just my .02

im going to have to disagree with this...IMO the focal metal dome tweeters are fairly harsh and aggressive sounding

make sure you get to listen to them on your own music and if possible try to listen to them in a car...either you love or hate the sound of the focals and a store environment will sound very different than a car

I have the Focal Polyglass components, they sound awesome! A bit on the pricey side but worth the $$.

I will have to say that would be a biased opinion on my part But the car did manage to win 2 world chamionships with that setup. I do agree the metal domes are a little more than I like, But I use the models below that aren't metal and tune accordingly.

a vehicle that is made to compete in SQ is different than the average users install. most average users mount them in the stock locations and use little to no equilization...you can get the metal domes to sound good with a lot of tuning, but the average user most likely does not have the right equiptment/experience to do that which is why i say to try to hear them in a car in a similar install that you will have as I would not be happy if I was told that they sounded great in a competition vehicle and replaced my factory speakers with them and the sound was not what i was expecting, especially after i dropped a bunch of money on them
