JL Sub popping
Ok I have a factory system and I have added a JL w3 v2 to the center storage bin it is powered by a JL 250/1 amp. I had a popping noise only come on some songs can someone help me with the problem. I was thinking of dynamating the inside of the box. I have polyfill in the box right now. I think it might be an air issue but I am not sure. I would like to fix this problem today. I tried searching it but found nothing that would help me.

Popping is generally what you hear when the speaker has reached it's excursion limit. It's being over driven.

What size sub do you have and do you know the air space of the enclosure? What is the xover set at and where is the gain on the amp? Shawn is correct. Popping is caused when the voice coil extends out of the gap and hits the spider on the way down, it is most often caused by being overdriven but there are more factors then that.

We need more info. Seal or Ported box? Does the popping happen at all volumes or just when you are cranking? What type of songs cause the popping?

I figured out the problem now I took out the sub and look a look at it. It is blown there are a coupe of holes on the mesh. I am going to repair it today right after work. The car system sounds like crap without the sub. Oh well ill have it fixed by the end of the day no one would be able to even notic.

I used 100% sylicone to fix the cracks and when I really looked at the sub omg 
it had so many crakcs. I put sylicone on all of them yesterday and hooked it up today. It sounds a hell of a lot better now. It sounds just like brand new.
