I am going to install my Alpine 9855 today, but am wondering about a second set of wires that were unplugged from the Bose HU. How are they, if they are at all, attached to the alpine 9855. Is there anyone that has installed an apline HU that can answer this? Thanks!!
all you need for the alpine to work, considering the aftermarket amps, is power, ground, memory, antenna and switched power for the new amps. All but the switched power is from the car. I am sure an adaptor exists to pull those elements from the car to the alpine head.

If you have the Bose System - you will need an interface to wire in the 9855 to the OEM Amps -
To get sound - unless you are re -wiring the complete system or removing it all.
I will let you know. I decided on MB Quart Component speakers, so I ended up removing the whole Bose system. I will be tapping into the ignition wire tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to report on the system.
I am a Best Buy Mobile Installer and we have had a lot of problems with the Alpine 9855 and the 9853 both of which have the "glide touch." Neither of our displays will open and we have warrantied about ten of them since we started carrying them about a month and a half ago. The faces lock up and will not eject the disc. Sometimes the buttons stop accepting commands and the little red light under the volume **** blinks continuously. I did remove one from a customers car and manually remove the CD and when I re-assembled the 9855 it worked. We warrantied it but it seemed to work. If this happens to you try pressing the reset button on the screen just above the volume **** and if that doesn't work try unplugging it for about 15 mins to let all of the capacitors discharge in the unit therefore reseting the unit. I don't know if we just got a bad run of the 9855s and the 53s but I would not recommend either of these units to my customers. I personally went with the Pioneer DEH-P7700MP and I love it. I plan on getting rid of the Bose all together so when I installed it I didn't use the adapter. My 8" door speakers don't work but I have a 12" Infinity Perfect so I have plenty of lows. The rest of my speakers work great and sound better once I adjusted the crossovers in the Head Unit. I don't know if I tapped into true accessory but I used the red wire in the ignition harness and it worked just fine. I didn't retain RAP but I do have a Window Valet and would be interested in trying whatever module they have that would retain my RAP.
Thanks for the tips! I have been playing with the 9855 and must say that I am not that impressed with it. I have about 5,000 plus songs on my Ipod, and trying to scroll through using the slide bar is ridiculous! It would have been better if the volume **** could have been configured to handle that task. Other than that, I like the system so far. I just have to figure out why my amp is overheating so much. It keeps cutting out and restarting. When I checked it, it was extremely hot...felt like an Iron!
yeah i work for a best buy as well in the car audio department and we also have a lot of problems with the 9855s and 9853s, i still want to get a 9855 though since i dont see any aftermarket unit other then that that matches the interior of my car
