AVIC and Vrumvrum face plate???

AVIC and Vrumvrum face plate???
I noticed that some of you have managed to use the plastic frame surround that came with the Pioneer AVIC N1/N2 HU with the vrumvrum face plate. Due thickness of the faceplate - I can't for the life of me figure out how you were able to clip the plastic surround piece back onto the HU once the vrumvrum face plate is on...did you just glue onto the plate. Thanks in advance.
