I just blew my 2nd set of Kicker 8" mid bass in my doors.
I'd like to get a pr. of speakers that'll fit, and give me good response. (Ideally, I'd like a pr. that won't pop with too much power....are those even available?)
If you have blown 2 sets of Kicker 8's then you need to look at some other options. Do you have a dedicated sub in the car? How much power are you running to the 8's and frequency are they xover at?
I have a kicker KX350 4 channel. Honestly, I don't know the frequency or power. I know when I played around with the ***** on the amp, I had to turn them up a bit to get some bass response. I'm sure that has something to do with the current situation. Are you aware of any subs that would limit the power they receive without blowing even if I crank up the amp?

You're missing a lot of info.
There are a LOT of ways to mis-wire and screw up an otherwise sound set-up.
Gains set too high/speakers getting too much power for rating
Clipping
Miswired speakers
Improper ohm matching
Subs are NOT designed to act as a fuse
I'm not aware of any that limit incoming power. There are ratings for speakers handling ability.
RMS power
Max power
Ohm
If you've blown up more than one set, something is probably wrong with your install/set-up.
