I just finished my installation of the AVIC n2 but I can't seem to get rid of that annoying warning message about the parking brake not being connected properly. The HU's hardware diagnostics screen displays its status correctly but the HU always seems to popup that fricken warning message when it's powered up.
Questions: I have the parking brake wire grounded from the HU to the chassis - how long does it take the system to initialize itself to sense the correct connection statuses? I've only driven it 5 miles so far.
I spliced the yellow illumination wire off of the HVAC control unit but the HU doesn't illuminate when I open the doors...shouldn't the HU light up or am I assuming the wrong thing? FYI - The diagnostics screen does display the correct status of the illumination state.
From: Alhambra Calismognazifornia, in the country everyone comes just to complain but won't go back home!
if the n2 works the same as the n1, and i think it does in every way but navtraffic, then you're misunderstanding the illumination wire's purpose. what it's supposed to do is give you a different color scheme (higher contrast) for nighttime use. it's supposed to be connected to your headlight circuit so that when you turn them on, it changes over to the different mode.
