99 Passenger door speaker problem?
I bought a 99 that Im slowly putting back together. It didnt have radio or speakers so I got a factory CD player and speakers for it. When I hooked it all up I noticed the passenger door speaker sounded different. When you move the balance to that door you can tell the small tweeter isnt working. I took it back apart and did a ohms check on the wiring. All showed good there. From the wiring diagram it looks like it doesnt go thru the amp in the door. Does this speaker run on its own chip in the stereo? Can I just find a replacement IC for it anywhere and fix it myself or is it a non avaiable part? With out the schematic Im not sure which one it is or how it is foiled.

I would guess the 3.5" mid/tweeter is shot before I would suspect the HU. The 8" woofer has it's own amp, the 3.5" uses the HU's power. Try this: swap the two stock 3.5" speakers and see if the problem moves. If it does, replace them with aftermarket 3.5"s. Infinity and Alpine 3.5"s seem popular. Added benifit, it will sound better than stock
