The forum concensus for those who want change is that the highs are not bright enough. So replace the 3.5s and 5.25s. Some want that and/or more bass. I made a cab with a couple 10's, buy an amp and an AudioControl LC6 & cables. About $500-600 if you shop right

In your profile, I did not see what year car you have. Assuming you have a C5, for less than $200 you can do the above, replace the mid/high speakers in the vette. You would still use the factory HU and the factory 8" woofer in the doors
