Cheap iPod integration solution!

RoadTrip!+
I just purchased this thing on a wim to use in my other vehicles and tested it out in my Vette, boy does it work well!!
It uses FM modulation (87.9 Mhz only) but the sound is crystal clear without any distortion or static.
iPodLounge reviewed it and gave it a B+:
iPodLounge Review
The main gripe about it is if you jostle or grab and shake the cable, you will hear some muffled sounds through the stereo (reminds me of someone tapping on an open mic); no biggy though because you really have to shake the crap out of the cable or jostle it around heavily to induce the minor noise. Driving to/from work, I have yet to hear any disruption or static in the sound but I've only tested it for a couple of days
Things that I like about it:
1. The FM transmitter is integrated into the housing that attaches to the cig lighter/12v auxilliary power port.
2. iPod battery gets recharged!
3. The unit and cable as a whole are very compact. You could use the center console for storage and plug it into the 12v auxilliary connector
4. It uses the docking station connector so the signals are transferred between the iPod and the FM modulator at LINE LEVEL for better sound quality (instead of using the headphone jack which is amplified).
5. No fumbling around for an FM station (uses 87.9 Mhz only which might pose a problem for some folks).

My only complaint is that the wire is very stiff which makes it look cheap in my opinion. A better quality wire (softer/more flexible) or even a coiled wire would have made the unit perfect.
Never the less, it does play much better than Itrip or Air Play.
I'll give it a 8+ out of 10!

You're right, the cable is a tad stiff; maybe it will soften up if you leave it in the vehicle on a hot day?!
I just ordered another one, this time the "regular" RoadTrip, not the plus; it will work with any mp3 player for $14.99 so I can use it with another mp3 player; same concept, FM modulator housed inside of the 12v plug. But it will not be able to recharge the mp3 player's battery but that's ok with me, the price is right

Glad you're happy too
