Today, I'm driving down the street in my wife's car (2001 VW Jetta) after picking it up from the shop. Oh, while in the shop, the faceplate was at home with me. Anyway, I pick the car up, put the faceplate on and turn on Sirius... I'm cruisin' along, and all of the sudden the radio turns itself up *really* loud, i.e. from "5" to "27" in a matter of about 1.5 seconds.
What gives? Obviously, the shop couldn't have done anything to it - I had the faceplate at home. The HU was purchased in Fall of 2003. Is this a known problem (i.e., one with a fix), or is the HU just going bad? If the lifespan of a HU these days is less than 2yrs, I'm not going to be happy...
